EXTENSIONS OF EXTENSIONS OF EXTENSIONS………ON AN ON WE GO……..
It has been said by many in the fields of philosophy and psychology that consciousness within the human time dimension seems to enter our experience in generational waves that span over the course of each decade and provide each populus with a particular code of consciousness, each level of consciousness designed to hold a signature for what the expected generational goal is to reach, root and establish during their timeline.
Generations are typically defined as groups of people within a specific time period who share common cultural, social, and historical experiences and without going too deep, it’s important to address this if we want to paint a good picture of how and why the NOW looks like it does because although each timeline is unique
EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED
The Greatest Generation: b. 1901-1927:
These were the gens that fought the battles, great depressions and major historical pointers in time that were really the seeding energy for the entire gen centurion and how all of our lives would follow on the back of war tragedies and victories, patriotism and glory! They were the re-build, THE RE-GENERATION (more on that later), the power houses that gave rise and potential to the following generation:
The Silent Generation: b. 1928-1945:
That although they were the children of the victory V’s (the symbol of post war unity) they were seemingly set out to restructure with a huge bag of enthusiasm and pride from their founding fathers but it would seem with a great deal of stealth, silence and stoic sadness delivered from the generation prior. They were, for my generation (Gen X, 45 here 👋)my grandparents and I can confirm that due to their troubled starts and worries from whence they came to where they go, they really were in search of stability, security and they set the ball rolling for conservatism in a big way. They then birthed….
Baby boomers: b. 1946-1964
The second largest age group! The post-war re-pop poppin! The generation that grew out of nowhere. They seemed to benefit hugely from the settlement of post-war trauma and an increase in health services, wealth increases, social stability, leadership security and economic rise so all in all, this generation were living the good life! They had it all going on. Free and easy! Not much for them to really moan about (until current day and surrounds) – They were the rise of professionalism for both sexes. Divorces a plenty. The broken homes incoming but who cares, as long as the houses, cars and holidays still keep rolling in… They birthed…
Generation X: b. 1965-1980
This Gen are known as a) The bridge builders. Between old worlds and new, aka the post war children and the incoming tech generation and also b) The latchkey generation – aka the ones that left home alone to go to school and came home alone to an empty house because of working parents so, they had to let themselves in.
They grew to become the most resilient of us all yet also probably the most cynical because they were trapped in the middle of huge wealth and economic crashes whilst society steered them forwards towards mega technological changes. Generation X parents were the first to adopt “helicopter parenting,” being more involved in their children’s lives compared to their Boomer parents, who were more hands-off. Gen Xers focus on closely managing their children’s social and educational growth. They primarily birthed…..
Millennials or Generation Y: b. 1981-1996
The brand new optimists. Here to make the world a better place! They have seemingly ditched most of the conservative values in replacement for liberal freedom techniques where instead of ‘helicoptering’ their children, they allow them to free roam, feel their way through life, explore their true identity and sense of self. They are the home to the seed of a new breed to follow and they are also the most populated gen with boomers following behind them. Then followed….
Generation Z: b. 1997-2009
This generation is a funny one. They were birthed from liberal optimism but they have also, much like Gen X been shaped by wild economic tides, 2009 bank crash aftermaths, economic crashes, Covid and rather than using tech as a useful life tool, it became more of a source of escapism and entertainment for them. They are the gen to have reverted back into conservatism in the search for safety and security amidst uncertain times and given their very name alone, times are uncertain as we head into a new millennium altogether, ushering in the technocratic empire, birth of the internet and also an entirely new starter cycle of gens altogether.
Generation Alpha: b. 2010-2024
Gen Alpha ‘the beginning’, marking the start of the next cycle. The next century to follow the post war children. They are the children seeded in the optimistic era of millennials. The millennial reign belongs to them. They are entirely raised online with technology a full blown factor in their existence.
They are expected to become the largest generation in history and one that will hold the unique signature of family values and closeness with both their parents and grandparents due to spending much time at home during covid and being taught to remote learn and live whilst engaging in digital communication with extended family. This is the 1st generation to really have their lives streamed online and while all this is great for a variety of reasons and we yet don’t know what the future will look like for them, we can predict, based on previous trends, that there may be a concern for them to fall into isolated spaces, depression, disconnection and the inability to sense the difference between the authentic and the synthetic world around them and how they fit into it
NOW AS WE MOVE INTO 2025, WE START A WHOLE NEW GEN:
Generation Beta: b. 2025-2039
The beta gen is anticipated to be entirely integrated to the online system with a very deep appreciation for social inclusivity, diversity and a curious exploration into the WHAT IS HUMAN concept. They will be the ones to really decipher who we are! No data to reveal yet as, you know, this era is literally only 11 days old!
What I will say however is, it is curious how this millennium switch from latin based names or taglines has now been moved into the Greek playing fields with Alpha and Beta leading the way.
Now, just a curious mention but, alpha and beta testing in all fields of any new development whether it be cars, computer programs, product samples etc all start with an alpha test and a beta test.
Alpha Testing is done within the organization, while Beta Testing is done in the user’s environment. During Alpha Testing, only functionality and usability are tested, while during Beta Testing usability, functionality, security, and reliability are tested to the same depth
What then will follow Gen Beta, god only knows but, well, I mean I could predict it would look like:
Gen Gamma
Gen Delta
You get the picture…
But, it looks like the seed of the new breed that the millennials co-created has had its 1st demo in the world and now, the betas are set to take it to the next level.
The reason for starting off with this detailed breakdown of all the generations and their changing demographics and energetics is to highlight how their characteristics have shaped our external world.
We can see that each generation from 1900 seems to skip a generation with the overall themes varying between the polarities of conservatism and liberalism, wealth and stealth, spend or mend.
Where the boomers started to generate wealth that enabled them to live lives of comfort and freedom, the late gen x’ers found they were left to fend for themselves in an emerging credit climate. Where the millennials became the new boomers with their liberal optimistic overtones, the Gen Z’ers adopted the Gen X’s cynicism and turned it into conservatism in the hope for a more stable life post covid and further economic instability.
It seems to look like a lot of back and forth, while we skip hop a gen only to have to go right back and review it all over again with different tones, themes and a whole lot more trauma
Now, each gen that has emerged since the start of 2000 seems to have had what I would like to call an advantage to the rest of us though I say that with caution, in that they have since birth been gifted with unlimited knowledge and information from both books, online resources and information portals just about everywhere whether than information is ‘fact or fiction’.
The rest of us however, got most of our information from schools, churches, libraries and limited non digital, offline resources so most of what we knew came from our forefathers and theirs. A non questionable source of wisdom and insight that shaped our very reality.
And regardless of economic security or political endeavours it cannot be argued that the 20th century was a time of blissful ignorance, peaceful prosperity and even though all our unconscious traumas bubbled away nicely underneath waiting for the next cycle to hit so they could awaken and destroy our sense of sleepy reality, it was a really lovely time, even when it really wasn’t!
All that stuff we now have access to, Infowars galore and whether it’s real news or not isn’t the question. It’s, how do we decipher what’s real or fake and more importantly, why isn’t it all just ‘REAL’? Why is there a FAKE at all?
Well, the younger of the silent gen and the older of the boomer gen for the most part are the ones right now that seem most triggered by the liberalism of the post
2000 generations and their new found beliefs, ethics and morals based on whatever info the internet choses to spew.
They read the gospels and sunday sermons and were held to strict patriarchal practice and conduct. Their REAL reality built the capital empires and corporatisation. They were heavy militias and lock and key vaults. Underground rituals and traditions kept private, secrets never shared. Cold, no feelings. What was built was done for profit not love. It was done out of necessity to rule with iron fists and out of fear of invaders and conquerors. It serves to know our history well but….
It also serves to know ourselves well too. As people, HUMANS, sentient beings. We have been raised gen after gen after gen out of fear and lack then joy and wealth then back to fear and lack again and all the way we have been encouraged to shove our feelings down and not question anything but to keep building, growing, producing, profiting…..printing money, piling it, building, working, growing, growing old, growing sick, dying, passing it on, inheritances, traumas, oh there’s nothing left anymore other than trauma. Have that?
ENTER GEN ALPHA……NO THANKS!
NAH, they aren’t interested! They’re done! They’re literally STARTING AGAIN
They want to know why they feel the way they feel. Who they are, why they are, what they are, WHAT IS LOVE. WHERE IS LOVE, I AM LOVE
THEY WANT TO FLIP THE SCRIPT AND START FROM SCRATCH
Because they see how it has been for 100 years and more and they aren’t interested in the slightest and honestly, who on earth can blame them?
But, the early boomers, they’re scared because they are the faithful capitalists and protectors of where men are men and women are women and life is steady away. Hey, nothing against that it’s all good but, they cannot fathom the world to come. They cannot understand the uber liberal onlinen world and they are afraid that their values or apparent lack thereof will cost the traditionalists everything they have worked so hard for
Are they wrong?
They cannot understand this world of new pronouns and gender fluidity where anyone now can seemingly chose what they wish to identify as without it being so black and white
Are they wrong?
They feel pushed out of a world that they built (hence why I said that they’ve had an easy ride, until now) because they don’t trust or believe in what is new and now emerging
Are they wrong?
Is it about right or wrong? Or is it about learning from each other so when the time comes, we can blend all of the epochs, messages, timelines and energies together and CREATE the future together?
